Birthday Treats and Back to School

The girls celebrated their birthday the other day. They had 8 of their friends over for lunch and one of the activities was to make "purses."

The older girls made a more advanced project. I found a gift bag that was falling apart at Sears, bought it at a discounted price, and created my own template from the original. I traced a pattern, downsized it on the copier, and viola! Each of the guests picked out papers that they liked. This particular one is the one Em made. They all turned out really well.

After the girls went to play, I filled them with some treats.

This is the one the younger girls made. I made something similar at a club night party. I just changed the dimensions to suit my needs, and they turned out great. The scallop circle is what holds the flap of the purse together. The scallop is held on by a brad, and we used a pop dot to attach the castle.

And I glued some treats into place when the girls went to play. Someone stole the little Kit Kat out of this one.

It was cold and rainy today, and the girls humored me by taking the annual first day of school picture by my tree. (Ryan wants to take the tree out, and I won't let him, thus it is my tree!)

The girls are standing in front of the trunk, so you can't really see my precious tree. The leaves blend in with the stuff in the background. But there really is a tree there!

Hi! I'm sorry I haven't called you back. When I got home, I hit the ground running and have been home very little and it's usually too late to call. I'm sad I didn't get home in time to call the girls on their b-days! Bad Auntie! The kids and I miss you terribly. I miss our late nights, even though I want to re-do my pages! :) LOVE YOU!
